It’s YOU time!

Hello Friend, It's YOU-time! We pray you've had a blessed Christmas. We know that for some, that means just surviving! For others, it is enjoying a gift or the ability to give. Others are blessed to spend time with friends and family that we don't see very often. We replay old memories, missing those who have passed on to glory, and glory in new babies, new marriages, new opportunities that await us in the New Year. Whatever your season of life, we pray that your Christmas carried your heart back to that babe in the manger--who changes everything, especially us!  That's why our Woven Quiet Retreat is really the perfect gift for YOU! It's coming up Friday-Saturday-Sunday, January 8-9-10th. You may choose a 24 or 48 hour retreat. The Deadline to register is even sooner--this Thursday, December 31st I must turn in my numbers so the Sts. Peter & Paul Retreat Center can prepare for our group. So many have expressed a desire to attend this year's retreat! That's my purpose in writing--to ask that if God is prompting your heart at all to attend, will you please be obedient to that tug on your heart? I promise it will be the best thing you [...]

The “Loved Beyond Measure” Project

Tis the season of GIVING (and yes, receiving). My Christmas wish for Woven Women is to encourage the precious hearts at The Courage House with the message that they are LOVED BEYOND MEASURE! The Courage House is a temporary home for rehabilitating women with drug and alcohol addictions. Many of these gals have attended our Woven events over the years. If you have met them, you know just how beautifully broken they are. We come alongside them once a month through our Gifted Hands ministry--by providing materials and leading them through a hands-on creative project, as we love on them and pray for them. This Christmas Woven will bless The Courage House women with a tote bag filled with basic needs that we often take for granted. Woven has purchased 24 lovely jute Tote Bags with the words: Loved Beyond Measure with John 3:16 as well as a small felted zip bag with a 7 day devotional. WE NEED YOUR HELP Below is a list of what we need to fill them. If you are interested in purchasing items, just drop them off at Newark Naz, 200 S Williams St. If you attend our Sunday services, just label your donation WOVEN and leave it at the Information Desk.  If you prefer, you may donate towards our purchases (click OTHER and label [...]

Woven Summer Fun!

Hello Woven Women! I know:  I've been quiet for awhile. God has been teaching much in the past months of pulling away from the desk and taking a semi-sabbatical. One thing I'm learning is to just be open to spontaneity in my schedule, to not hold such a tight grip on the arrangement of my day, not be in a hurry but instead carry a sense of expectancy of what each day and moment may birth--- and be ready to embrace that unplanned moment. But, I'm sure you'll hear more about this from me later, as I walk it out and practice it. I will let you know how that goes! With that in mind...  Are you ready to officially embrace Summer? We hope you'll PARTY WITH US on the 2nd official day of Summer for: An Evening of Fun & Games & Ice Cream Sundaes! Monday, June 22nd, 6:30-8:30pm This event will kick off our Summer Schedule, so it's only the BEGINNING of our SUMMER FUN! You can look forward to: MONTHLY GIRL'S NIGHT OUT (GNO) AUGUST QUIET RETREAT: yes! our 1st SUMMER Quiet Retreat (14th-16th) SEPTEMBER WOVEN WEEKEND! Are You All In? #LOVE

ALL IN! It's the topic of our 2015 Woven Women Weekend this Saturday, March 7th, and this is the day to register. What does it mean to be ALL IN? Jesus captures our attention with these words in Luke 10:27 "Love the Lord your God with ALL your heart and with ALL your soul and with ALL your strength and with ALL your mind, and, Love your neighbor as yourself." Jesus beckons us: Come All In. Jesus commands us: Go All In! Jesus is saying, "Whatever it is that you are looking for, whatever is lacking in you, you will find in me. The answer to your problem, to your situation is LOVE. When you go ALL IN, you're surrendering to the LOVE that changes everything!" "Do this and you will live." (Luke 10:28) GO ALL IN  and you can expect: New Life Joy Healing Trust Hope and a Future Peace Forgiveness Purpose Freedom Life...eternal life and so much more ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE! "God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him." "Dear friends, since God so loved [...]

Finding the Merry in Christmas

Looking for some Merry in your Christmas? Have your HO-HO-HO's turned to BAH-HUM-BUGS? We find the Merry in Christmas by peering into the face of Christ. Ah! the cherub innocence of a newborn babe! December 19, 2008, I witnessed the birth of my first grandson. What a glory to behold! Nothing could compare to this Technicolor experience. As one who is squeamish at the sight of blood, I knew early in life that I would never be a nurse or doctor. Yet, watching this babe emerge from my one and only child was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. The artist within was entranced by the color of it all: the white of the umbilical cord, the blue of the veins, the red of the blood. It magnified the miracle! The miracle of birth brought new wonder to my world. The miracle of the Child of Christmas was amplified in my heart. As I sang the Angels' songs, my heart rejoiced in depths I'd never known. "Joy to the world, the Lord is come!" I had just experienced great joy as a new grandmother. I wanted to proclaim it to the world! "O come, let us adore Him!" Peering into that baby's face was a far [...]

Reason to Fly!

I watched the process of birthing and nurturing a family from my window this past year. Male and female became mates and nested in our ready-made house. Equally excited, they did their best to ready it as an incubator. One going in to tidy things up. The other waiting to check the progress. One such day, I observed the Mrs. toting an extra long piece of grass--twice the length of their new home. The Mr. was standing guard from above-- then popped down there and pushed the opposite end into the hole-- as a true helpmate should! Weeks later, a choir of triplets announced their birth. Incessant baby-chirps insisted on needing fed. Then one day, my "Nook" guests and I were entertained as Momma gave her babes their first flight instructions. Tiny bodies dressed in soft downy feathers aligned the roof of our car port. Momma B hurriedly fetched a beak-full of energy food for each to fuel their first flight. One by one, they spread their wings. Most of their movement was down-not-up! They landed on the driveway. By the month of August, the in-and-out traffic of that tiny house was nearly nonstop. Five sparrows still consider it their home. Some days they must wait their turn to go inside. The sides of the little house bulge with [...]

A Day of REST

We could all use one! Sounds so good this time of year, doesn't it? By now we're all feeling a bit rough around the edges, rushing against the clock to pull things together for the holidays. Seriously! Who has time for a day of rest?  Rest is more than just a good idea. It's one of the original Ten Commandments of God for His people. “Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy." Exodus 20:8 Every age group was included. This command was not meant just for people over-the-hill! "the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you." Imagine: permission for everyone to just stop all the activity--even cooking--and JUST REST! No-guilt type of rest. Needed rest. Faith required rest. Commitment to rest. AHHH! Sounds so yummy, doesn't it? I'm trying to visualize the power of what it must have been like for an entire community to observe this at the same time! WOW! The Sabbath is a day of worship. The Sabbath is more than just [...]

National Day of Prayer Against Porn: TODAY!

This is a social problem that I am passionate about: the devastating effect of pornography on our families, our marriages, our children. Let's pray for an end to the exploitation and oppression of women and children. Let's pray for God to strengthen our men in this battle for their minds, their hearts. Friends, let's get on our knees for what matters most in life! SUGGESTED PRAYER REQUESTS Help those who are struggling with pornography use Strengthen the partners of pornography users that they will be healed, find understanding and know what is best for themselves and their family Protect children from exposure as long as possible and help them make sense of right and wrong once they are exposed. Help them to feel dignity and self-worth Guide parents to teach their children real love and the value of others Safeguard families and relationships Aid those who are exploited and abused and who are suffering because of the demand for pornography. Help them to feel loved and valued Inspire the individuals who are working around the country in this movement that they will know what to do and how to help Provide the considerable funding needed to escalate the fight against pornography [...]

Look At The Globe!

When is the last time you gazed at a globe? Twirled it on it's axle? Considered the geography of this grand sphere, this planet Earth? In the midst of the "pandemic" named Ebola, God deemed the new year as the culmination of a 10 year call for  ME, Cynthia K. Stiverson, to teach, preach, share Jesus and introduce Woven to the women of East Africa. As the fear increased and the virus spread, I began to question: "After 10 years of waiting...NOW?" In the initial responses of family and friends to my quest, I fought these questions and fears in my own heart and mind. Yet, He continued to confirm this call. Now is the time. In a recent such battle of the heart, He clearly directed me: "Look at the Globe!" I measured the distance from West Africa to East Africa. I measured the distance from Texas to Ohio, then considered how close the supposed enemy Ebola awaits. It had moved to Akron, just 2 hours away. One thing I know for sure about Africa is that it is a continent. There is a misperception that Africa is a country; a tendency to lump every African country into one large conglomerate. Being the 2nd largest continent with 54 countries, it takes a hard hit. When something happens "in Africa", then suddenly [...]
