It’s YOU time!

Hello Friend, It's YOU-time! We pray you've had a blessed Christmas. We know that for some, that means just surviving! For others, it is enjoying a gift or the ability to give. Others are blessed to spend time with friends and family that we don't see very often. We replay old memories, missing those who have passed on to glory, and glory in new babies, new marriages, new opportunities that await us in the New Year. Whatever your season of life, we pray that your Christmas carried your heart back to that babe in the manger--who changes everything, especially us!  That's why our Woven Quiet Retreat is really the perfect gift for YOU! It's coming up Friday-Saturday-Sunday, January 8-9-10th. You may choose a 24 or 48 hour retreat. The Deadline to register is even sooner--this Thursday, December 31st I must turn in my numbers so the Sts. Peter & Paul Retreat Center can prepare for our group. So many have expressed a desire to attend this year's retreat! That's my purpose in writing--to ask that if God is prompting your heart at all to attend, will you please be obedient to that tug on your heart? I promise it will be the best thing you [...]

The “Loved Beyond Measure” Project

Tis the season of GIVING (and yes, receiving). My Christmas wish for Woven Women is to encourage the precious hearts at The Courage House with the message that they are LOVED BEYOND MEASURE! The Courage House is a temporary home for rehabilitating women with drug and alcohol addictions. Many of these gals have attended our Woven events over the years. If you have met them, you know just how beautifully broken they are. We come alongside them once a month through our Gifted Hands ministry--by providing materials and leading them through a hands-on creative project, as we love on them and pray for them. This Christmas Woven will bless The Courage House women with a tote bag filled with basic needs that we often take for granted. Woven has purchased 24 lovely jute Tote Bags with the words: Loved Beyond Measure with John 3:16 as well as a small felted zip bag with a 7 day devotional. WE NEED YOUR HELP Below is a list of what we need to fill them. If you are interested in purchasing items, just drop them off at Newark Naz, 200 S Williams St. If you attend our Sunday services, just label your donation WOVEN and leave it at the Information Desk.  If you prefer, you may donate towards our purchases (click OTHER and label [...]

Woven Summer Fun!

Hello Woven Women! I know:  I've been quiet for awhile. God has been teaching much in the past months of pulling away from the desk and taking a semi-sabbatical. One thing I'm learning is to just be open to spontaneity in my schedule, to not hold such a tight grip on the arrangement of my day, not be in a hurry but instead carry a sense of expectancy of what each day and moment may birth--- and be ready to embrace that unplanned moment. But, I'm sure you'll hear more about this from me later, as I walk it out and practice it. I will let you know how that goes! With that in mind...  Are you ready to officially embrace Summer? We hope you'll PARTY WITH US on the 2nd official day of Summer for: An Evening of Fun & Games & Ice Cream Sundaes! Monday, June 22nd, 6:30-8:30pm This event will kick off our Summer Schedule, so it's only the BEGINNING of our SUMMER FUN! You can look forward to: MONTHLY GIRL'S NIGHT OUT (GNO) AUGUST QUIET RETREAT: yes! our 1st SUMMER Quiet Retreat (14th-16th) SEPTEMBER WOVEN WEEKEND! Another First! on Saturday, the 19th You'll Find the Full Schedule here. Your Woven Leaders are super excited [...]

Are You All In? #LOVE

ALL IN! It's the topic of our 2015 Woven Women Weekend this Saturday, March 7th, and this is the day to register. What does it mean to be ALL IN? Jesus captures our attention with these words in Luke 10:27 "Love the Lord your God with ALL your heart and with ALL your soul and with ALL your strength and with ALL your mind, and, Love your neighbor as yourself." Jesus beckons us: Come All In. Jesus commands us: Go All In! Jesus is saying, "Whatever it is that you are looking for, whatever is lacking in you, you will find in me. The answer to your problem, to your situation is LOVE. When you go ALL IN, you're surrendering to the LOVE that changes everything!" "Do this and you will live." (Luke 10:28) GO ALL IN  and you can expect: New Life Joy Healing Trust Hope and a Future Peace Forgiveness Purpose Freedom Life...eternal life and so much more ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE! "God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him." "Dear friends, since God so loved [...]

Look At The Globe!

When is the last time you gazed at a globe? Twirled it on it's axle? Considered the geography of this grand sphere, this planet Earth? In the midst of the "pandemic" named Ebola, God deemed the new year as the culmination of a 10 year call for  ME, Cynthia K. Stiverson, to teach, preach, share Jesus and introduce Woven to the women of East Africa. As the fear increased and the virus spread, I began to question: "After 10 years of waiting...NOW?" In the initial responses of family and friends to my quest, I fought these questions and fears in my own heart and mind. Yet, He continued to confirm this call. Now is the time. In a recent such battle of the heart, He clearly directed me: "Look at the Globe!" I measured the distance from West Africa to East Africa. I measured the distance from Texas to Ohio, then considered how close the supposed enemy Ebola awaits. It had moved to Akron, just 2 hours away. One thing I know for sure about Africa is that it is a continent. There is a misperception that Africa is a country; a tendency to lump every African country into one large conglomerate. Being the 2nd largest continent with 54 countries, it takes a hard hit. When something happens "in Africa", then suddenly [...]

Woven: Every Woman on the Planet

"Am I allowed to come to this event? I'm not in a Woven group." The answer is always a resounding "YES!" Woven is the antithesis of female cliques. My tag line "WOVEN IS FOR EVERY WOMAN" didn't seem to be working. Women aren't used to such an open invitation for friendship, and that's exactly why Woven was birthed. To express the inclusiveness of Woven Women, I was divinely inspired recently with this tag line: WOVEN is for every woman on the planet! "Divinely" inspired because it seems that God has aligned the stars and times to expand this ministry. Woven began in 1998 in one church. Soon I was writing, professionally printing, and selling my curriculum to women who were starving for meaningful relationships. Woven took a back seat as I served in various pastor positions and planted a church. Six years ago, God resurrected this ministry when I began attending Newark Church of the Nazarene. It's been beautiful to witness His purpose being actualized: "I want you WOVEN into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God." (Col. 2:2-3) The love is contagious! This small group ministry has evolved into worship events, retreats, extensive community outreach, and now our monthly Girls' Night Out. Women have experienced depth in their spiritual journey [...]

Woven GNO: The Nook Challenge!

My Nook: An Outside Look! I just love having women in my NOOK! I've discovered that women love being invited for coffee (tea for me, please!), breakfast, brunch, or just to chat. (Read about my Nook in the sidebar to the right :). I often share photos from my Nook on Facebook, but this picture gives you an inside look from the outside and a glimpse of how cozy it truly is. At our October Girls' Night Out, Woven Leaders shared their "Nook" photos. I had challenged the leader team to find their Nook and invite women for coffee or conversation. Woven Leader Kitty Roahrig then passed the baton to all the women at our Girls' Night Out. The Nook Challenge: Never Overlook Opportunities to Konnect! As you can see in this picture, Kitty has taken this acronym seriously!! Now, we're not recommending (or implying) that your NOOK is a pigsty, but so often we think that our house has to be perfect in order to invite others in. But, NO-it's OK! Your Nook can be anyplace that you choose! Be creative! Invite someone to your favorite coffee shop, restaurant, park. ANY place can be a GREAT place for you to Konnect! (it's the [...]

WOVEN GNO: When Life Becomes 911

Anyone who is old enough to remember September 11, 2001, will never forget: the day the towers fell in NYC.  A line was drawn in the sand dividing the past from the future. That single moment of time reminded the entire world that the future is unpredictable, unknown… just one moment, one day, one event can change everything. Words like Terrorism, Code Red, and Homeland Security became a part of our everyday language. Terrorism has two meanings. As a verb: the use of violence and threats. The other is actually our response: a state of fear and submission. FEAR captured us. It kept us glued to the TV, wondering what would happen next.  Do you remember where you were that day? Do you remember how you felt as you watched those towers fall, and listened to the stories of victims? I was with a friend, trying to figure out my future. Months earlier, God asked me to resign from the church I was pastoring. I had no idea why or what was next. God simply asked me to clear my agenda, be ready to go wherever He led. Sunday, September 9th, was my final service as pastor of the church. Two days later, on Tuesday, [...]

Woven Girls’ Night Out 1-2-3!

WE ARE LOVING OUR GIRLS' NIGHT OUT!! Yes, there is a double meaning intended in this statement because LOVING OUR GALS and LOVING GOD is what we're all about!! AND...When we have an entire evening devoted to exactly that? Well, it's pretty amazing!! Yes, it is! Our 1st WGNO was in June, but in my heart it began as early as January. STORY NIGHTS. That's what I kept hearing from God. An opportunity for women to gather and share their personal stories, to be real, transparent, and to know that we are never alone in what we are facing, that there is no shame in where we have been, no secrets that need to be kept in the closet, no skeletons worth preserving. And lo and behold, THE GLORY of our Girls' Nights! (yes, men, you should be a bit envious of this!). The schedule is consistent, but all else is a work of the Holy Spirit. We begin at 6:30pm by coming alone or bringing a guest. You won't be a loner here! None are able to escape our embrace. Food and drinks await you; love greets you at the door. The fun begins! Arrive at 7pm, and you are awakened by the sound of [...]
